The Castle, Cordoba, Spain
Oil on Linen mounted to prepared birch wood cradled panels. 9x12 inches. Standard Size
Cordoba, the largest city near where I stayed in Montoro, was a 40-minute bus ride away. I spent many days there exploring its rich history. Originally established around 150 BC by the Romans, Cordoba was conquered by the Muslims in the early 8th century and became their capital, growing to become the largest and most cultured city in Europe by the 10th century. It fell to the Christians again in the 13th century.
