Fleeting Light Near the River, Montoro, Spain

$500.00

Oil on Linen mounted to prepared birch wood cradled panels. 9x12 inches. Standard Size

This is one of my favorite paintings from my time in Spain. The specific light effect I aimed to capture lasted for only about 30 minutes, during which I tried to depict the intense saturation and glowing quality of the trees against the harsh shadows moving across the ground. This scene was along a path by the river, and as soon as the shadows reached the water, turtles began emerging and walking toward the hill. It was an incredibly peaceful place with the sounds of birds, a gentle breeze, and the soft rustling of dozens of turtles crossing dried grass.
